The Angel Aircraft Corporation is a manufacturer of Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) aircraft. Carl Mortenson, a pilot and aircraft mechanic with many years of aviation experience, founded the company. During his time as a bush pilot/mechanic in South America, Carl designed his first aircraft, the Evangel, to fill the need for aircraft that could operate on short and rough airstrips while carrying large loads. The limited number of available STOL aircraft prompted Carl to design the Angel with the speed and safety of a high-performance twin.
The Angel received certification to FAR 23 in the USA by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in late 1992, after hundreds of hours of flight testing and additional hours of testing by the FAA. Today, Carl and his son, Ed, partner together as chief engineer on all aspects of the Angel project, with additional assistance provided by many others who have given money, prayed, donated time and talent to the Angel project.
The first Angel has flown nearly 3,000 hours and has been used for various missions across the globe. The Angel Aircraft Corporation is grateful to the Lord for His provision and to the many willing helpers who have supported the project over the years.
