BRM Aero is a Czech aircraft manufacturer that produces the BRM Aero Bristell, formerly known as the BRM Aero Bristell NG 5 or Bristell Classic. Designed by Milan Bristela, the two-seat, low-wing aircraft is available in both ultralight and light-sport versions to comply with regulations in different countries. The airplane is constructed with an aluminum frame and a wide cockpit covered by a bubble canopy. It features retractable gear and the wings include flaps. Several engine choices are available, including the 75 kW (101 hp) Rotax 912ULS, the 75 kW (101 hp) Rotax 912 iS Sport and the 106 kW (142 hp) Rotax 915 iS. The landing gear is of tricycle configuration. As of December 2020, over 600 units had been produced. Various models of the Bristell are available, including the heavy-duty version and a retractable gear model. The Bristell NG 5 Speed Wing is a homebuilt variant that can be configured with either tricycle or conventional landing gear. In February 2020, the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority issued a safety notice regarding the airplane’s center of gravity and potential for spin accidents.
