CUBCRAFTERS

Cub Crafters is an aircraft manufacturer headquartered in Yakima, Washington that produces both kit and certified aircraft for the general aviation industry. It was founded in 1980 by Jim Richmond, initially to build parts and modifications for the Piper PA-18 Super Cub. In 2004, the company achieved Federal Aviation Administration certification for its CC18-180 Top Cub, which is a modernized version of the Super Cub. The company also provides service and overhauls for PA-18 Super Cubs and other Cub derivative designs. In 2016, Cub Crafters introduced a new type certified design, the XCub, after six years of development. In 2022, the company announced plans to raise investment capital through preferred shares and acquired Summit Aircraft Skis of Sandpoint, Idaho, a manufacturer of aircraft skis. The founder of Cub Crafters, Jim Richmond, passed away in November 2021.
