EMBRAER

Embraer is a multinational aerospace manufacturer based in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil. The company produces commercial, military, executive, and agricultural aircraft, as well as providing aeronautical services. It was founded in 1969 with the aim of developing a domestic aircraft industry, with its first president, Ozires Silva, appointed by the government. Initially, Embraer only manufactured a turboprop passenger aircraft, the Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante. However, early government contracts enabled Embraer to grow its operations, and in 1974, the company began producing Piper light airplanes under license.

Embraer’s product range expanded in the 1970s and 1980s to include military aircraft such as the Embraer AT-26 Xavante and Embraer EMB 312 Tucano, as well as regional airliners like the Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante and Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia. The latter was aimed at the export market and became the first in a series of highly successful small and regional airliners. Today, Embraer is the third-largest producer of civil aircraft globally, after Boeing and Airbus.

The company’s operations are divided into Embraer Defense & Security, Embraer Commercial Aviation, and Embraer Executive Jets. Embraer also has multiple subsidiaries, including Neiva, OGMA, Eve Air Mobility, Atech, Bradar, and SAVIS. The company’s revenue in 2021 was US$4.2 billion, with a net income of US$43.5 million. Embraer employs over 15,000 people worldwide and trades on the B3 and NYSE stock exchanges.
