Hongdu Aviation Industry Group Ltd. is a Chinese company specializing in the manufacture and supply of military aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles to the Chinese military. The company was founded in December 1934 under the name Sino-Italian National Aircraft Works (SINAW), a joint venture between the Republic of China and the Kingdom of Italy. After the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese war, the company was renamed the Central Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Factory and went through several relocations and name changes until it became Hongdu Machinery-building Factory, later renamed Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation. Since 1998, the company has operated under its current name, Hongdu Aviation Industry Group Ltd. and is a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC). The company employs approximately 20,000 people and is headquartered in Nanchang, Jiangxi. Its products are exclusively sold to the Chinese military and include military aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.
