PATRIOT

The American Patriot Supercruiser, also known as the Patriot II, was an amateur-built aircraft designed and produced by American Patriot Aircraft of Westfield, Wisconsin. The company intended to provide the aircraft as a kit for amateur construction. The Supercruiser featured a strut-braced high-wing, twin-tail, and fixed tricycle landing gear, with a single engine in pusher configuration. The craft was made from aluminum alloy sheet and had a span of 30 feet, an area of 137 square feet, and a cabin width of 49 inches. The recommended engine power range was between 80 to 175 horsepower. The company had planned for light-sport aircraft certification in 2011, but as of September 2016, the design did not appear on the Federal Aviation Administration’s list of approved special light-sport aircraft. Only one prototype of the aircraft was completed, and the company seems to have gone out of business by late 2011. Its registration expired on September 30, 2012, and was not renewed. The American Patriot Supercruiser had an empty weight of 760 pounds, gross weight of 1,320 pounds, and a fuel capacity of 40 US gallons. It was powered by a 115 horsepower Subaru EA 81 four-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke automotive conversion engine, with a 3-bladed composite propeller. Its cruise speed was 135 mph, and it had a range of 850 miles and a rate of climb of 1,400 feet per minute.
