Valentin Flugzeugbau is a German aircraft manufacturer that designed and built the Valentin Taifun, a two-seat self-launching sailplane. The Taifun is an all glass-fibre low-wing cantilever monoplane with a T-tail and side-by-side seating for two occupants. It has a manually operated retractable tricycle landing gear and a wingspan of 17 meters (55 feet). The prototype, registered D-KONO, first flew on February 28, 1981. A total of 136 Taifuns were produced, with some later versions being fitted with a Rotax 914, hydraulically operated landing gear, and double-panel Schempp-Hirth type airbrakes on the upper wing surface. The Valentin Taifun is on display at the Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleissheim near Munich, Germany.
